Frequently Asked Questions
How much freezer space do I need?
Plan for approximately 6–9 cubic feet for a half share or 12–18 cubic feet for a whole share. Packaged weight varies with the animal and your cuts; hanging weight is not the amount of beef you take home.
What does it cost, and is the deposit refundable?
Beef costs $5.50 per pound of hanging weight, plus processing fees paid directly to the butcher. The deposit is $500 for a half share or $1,000 for a whole share. Deposits are non-refundable and credited toward your final beef bill.
How are your cattle raised?
We raise Aberdeen Angus cross cattle on pasture at our family ranch in Pleasant Shade, Tennessee. Our beef cattle are grain-finished, and we work our herd on horseback.
How do I reserve beef, and when can I pick it up?
Email gelcattleranch@gmail.com for payment instructions. We accept check, Venmo, PayPal, and cash. Your deposit reserves your share. Once it is received, we arrange processing and contact you with an estimated pickup date. Butcher availability varies. Pickup is at the butcher; we do not offer delivery.
